Bringing Jobs and Prosperity    The Community Fund    Early Construction of the Link Road

The Catalyst for Future Development     Putting Doncaster on the Map

Bringing Jobs and Prosperity

The DEW project will create approximately 220 new jobs for
the Stainforth, Hatfield and Dunscroft areas, in addition to
the jobs being created for the construction of the link road
and buildings. There will be a range of employment
opportunities from management to semi-skilled jobs and
the partnership is committed to ensuring that as many of
these jobs as possible are awarded locally.

The Community Fund

Placing the local environment at the forefront of its plans the partnership is
pledging to donate a percentage of income generated into a ‘Community Fund’.
This fund is to be used to finance projects that will be determined by the community for
their benefit and could include new leisure facilities, improved community services,
education, healthcare and living.

Early Construction Of The Link Road

Originally an aspiration of the local authority to improve the highways network around Hatfield, Dunscroft and Stainforth, the proposed link road to Junction 5 of the M18 will also serve the Hatfield Power Park development.  A large proportion of the funding will be provided by the developers and once a planning consent is granted for the scheme then the injection of further investment into the whole project will allow work to commence on the link road.

Earlier Delivery of the Masts Marina at Stainforth

The injection of new investment that the DEW project will bring to Hatfield Power Park means that work on Plots 8, 9 and 10 will be brought forward. This will be linked with the first phase of construction of the Masts Marina which will be completed in several phases over a period of up to five years.

Landscaping and Waterscapes

The extensive area of existing coal and waste tips surrounding the site are proposed to be landscaped and it is anticipated at least 250,000 trees will be planted along with several water features along the link road and in proximity to the Marina.

The Catalyst for Future Development

Every major mixed-use development needs a catalyst, a major project which kick starts the development and provides a critical mass for a site to flourish and prosper.  The DEW project will be that catalyst.

Putting Doncaster on the Map

The Sustainable Borough Strategy for Doncaster states that ‘By 2025 Doncaster
will be acknowledged as a city of significance in the country and in Europe. The
opportunity for everybody to enjoy the highest quality of life will have enabled Doncaster
to attract and retain a growing population with world-class skills in the high growth
industries that drive the regional economy.’

Specifically it goes on to say that to achieve environmental sustainability ‘Doncaster
Council is working to procure new contracts that will increase diversion from landfill and
increase re-use, recycling and composting. Through the Doncaster Waste
Strategy, we will also pursue opportunities for the re-use of waste as an economic and
social resource.’

The DEW Project is aiming to achieve this and more.
